LATE DR. R. K. SHIRODKAR

Dr. Ramchandra Kashinath Shirodkar who was founder of the school was born in the year 1890 in the village Shiroda. Dr. Shirodkar wanted to pursue higher studies & was looking for ways and means for obtaining scholarship. He secured Dhamankar scholarship and went to Baroda for higher studies. Wangler Paranjape took him under his wings and joined in Pune's Fergussion College. Then there he completed inter science and came to Mumbai and joined Elphinstone College & passed B. Sc. securing First Class. In 1930, Jat Sansthan Maharaja sent him England & there he received Ph.D. degree. He returned Mumbai and started working in Social service League in Parel.

During that time Mumbai was reeling under epidemic of influenza. Dr. Shirodkar provided the medicines to the affected people. He observed their poor living conditions and illiteracy. He wanted to bring about social awareness among the people and wanted to educate their children. He worked as Principal in Shri. Shivaji High School in Pune. He was a social reformer, educationalist, Journalist & Scholar. He had a great vision and became a social role model for the general public & has carved a place in many hearts. Dr. Shirodkar spent all his life in Educating, Imparting knowledge for the upliftment of the poor worker. He swept aside all the hardships, pain and sorrow in his personal life to educate the poor. He loved this Institute & would lovingly look after the needs of the students, teachers & his fellow member of the community. The Motto of this institutes is ":" has evolved from the work & life of Dr. Shirodkar Sir. He did not live long, but his keenness to work for the upliftment of his fraternity continue to inspire the society to become prosperous & enlightened.
